My brother (12) and I (16) want to give my mom a new laptop for her birthday because her old one is pretty… Well, he's very, very old xD
Since I don't really have a clue, I wanted to ask you which laptops you can recommend. It should definitely not be too expensive, so preferably nothing over 600 euro. A Lenovo or Acer or such a brand is enough. He only has to withstand xD to write and "online shopping" but of course you also need him to write invoices in between times.

It's oversized, but it'll do it for your mother for 10 years.

this is the very best 600 euro laptop right now. He is so strong that even some games would run on him
Find 16gb ram safer for 10 years. He only has 8
Ne everything with 8 gb ram… For 600 euro you can find 16gb
Sure, but only for surfing and office? But the one you linked is perfect for 600 euro.
Usually everything is enough with an AMD Ryzen 3-2200u / 3200u, or with an Intel Core i3-1005g1 with 8 GB RAM and 256 to 512 GB SSD.
At a price of around 500 euro, you should even be able to get a 17 "notebook for your mother if necessary for a better text overview.
A full HD display is not absolutely necessary for your mother's purposes if she does not occasionally want to watch video films on the book.
If she has to type a lot, you should give her a keyboard and a mouse and pad (each with a USB connection). This saves the input options of the book itself for mobile purposes and, even with budget books, is usually much more ergonomic on a desk than the NB keyboard and trackpad.
200 euro more for 8GB of additional RAM?
The 8GB are completely sufficient if you don't want to play something demanding on it, but the performance is not enough anyway!
Yes but 16gb are just safer for the future and if you want to open an app like photoshop you need the 16gb… Look what i linked, 16gb ram with 600 euro
You could then retrofit it yourself or have it done, guaranteed not to cost 200 euro in a good store
