Lenovo laptop IdeaPad L340-17IWL battery extremely weak?

I bought a Lenovo laptop yesterday. Model is in the title. I'm also very, very happy with the laptop, but there's a huge problem. And that's the battery.

Quote: "The IdeaPad L340 has a battery life of up to 7.5 hours - more than enough for your daily commute or to watch one episode of your favorite series after the next."

Or at Saturn: "Without a connected power supply, the computer has an average battery capacity of 36 Wh with a runtime of up to 7.7 hours."

So, for me the battery lasts a maximum of 1 and a half hours while I play games and surf the Internet. But this extremely low battery life is not because of the gaming, is it? And even if I only do a PowerPoint presentation while surfing, it lasts a maximum of 2 hours. That really annoys me! Does anyone know why that is?

You get the 7.5 hours if you switch off the WLAN, set the display brightness to a minimum and do nothing that the CPU requires. This is how to read this information, which is why it says "up to 7.5 hours" and not "from 7.5 hours".

The battery life is considerably reduced by gaming. The 1.5 hours get there quite well, especially with a dGPU. For PowerPoint and surfing, I would look again in the power options to see which mode the laptop is in. Screen brightness naturally also plays a major role.

Yes, of course, I noticed that with "to", but 1h is far too little if the laptop theoretically has up to 7.5h of battery life.

You can easily check it, leave the laptop with the lowest brightness level and WLAN switched off and see how long it lasts.

Mhm, yes okay. But that still seems to me very little. I always have a very low brightness. Is there any point in having the laptop in continuous power saving mode? So of course without gaming.

Okay thank you very much. I'll check tomorrow

Ro

Yes, that is more than enough for simple office and surf applications.
