Since suitcases are often treated very roughly, the airlines do not want to have to pay for it, if during the suitcase flight an age-old laptop in the damage report suddenly turned into a brand new Macbook.
Is no problem. I would not recommend it. It is not always the loaders throw the luggage through the area.
