Use iCloud Drive offline?

I would like to have my university documents, lectures, summaries etc. Saved in the iCloud.

So I created a folder for the university there and saved all my things there.

Now my question is whether I can access all the files without the internet?

If that shouldn't work, maybe someone has an idea how I can back up my data in iCloud Drive and at the same time have it on my laptop without internet without having to copy everything back into iCloud when I edit a file on my laptop?

I hope you understand what I meant by the last section.

Just use something like Dropbox instead of iCloud. Edit everything as usual locally on the computer - even without Internet - and use the Dropbox tool on the computer to set it so that it synchronizes everything in Dropbox with an existing Internet connection.

You can't access things that are in the cloud without a network. But you can automatically sync local things to a cloud as soon as you have internet.

Thank you for your prompt reply. So I can't access the documents I save on iCloud Drive on Mac offline from the same laptop?

kh

Thank you

No.

Either you store locally and can always access it, or in a cloud and then you can only access it via the Internet.

Without a network, you can't even access the cloud to access the data.

Alternatively, I would simply turn on the hotspot on the cell phone and use the Internet - if necessary, every university has Internet, so a missing network can't be a problem.

There's a Dropbox desktop app for Windows and Mac. Simply install, then you have one or more local folders that automatically synchronize with the Dropbox online.

Means you work normally on the computer and he pushes a copy into the Dropbox as soon as he has network. You can also do it selectively, so only the folders you want.

Thanks for the hint.

But what I find strange is when I switch off my Wi-Fi on my laptop so I don't have internet and then go through the Finder in iCloud Drive, can I still open all the files stored in it?

Co

Quite possible, but certainly not always in the last version. And editing and saving is also not possible.

Oh man, I still have a lot to learn

If I edit something without Wi-Fi, the upload to iCloud Drive is easy when I have the internet again.
