Windows 7 installation setup starts Error?

I have a problem. I bought a Medion laptop from a private owner today. He said I had to reinstall the operating system and he even gave me a Windows 7 installation CD. Everything went fine right up to the 'Setup starts' screen. I've been waiting for more than 30 minutes and nothing happens. The DVD drive makes no sound. I would like to know what I have to do…

PS: I have little idea of computers, so I can't do much with technical terms…

First, you need to change them in Bios menu to change the boot order so that you can boot from the media storage device, you also need to make sure you have a sata or a pci hard drive connected and then install the operating system.

So I start the installation of the operating system from the installation CS. I have set in the BIOS that I want to boot from the DVD drive. A hard drive is already integrated in the laptop, so that should work…

If the hard disk of the computer was not repackaged, there's usually a tool on the disk for a complete reinstallation with all necessary drivers.
Restart the PC and press the F11 key during startup. This starts a recovery menu. There you can select the option "Reset to factory settings".

The CD I use is a recovery disc. Is this anything but an installation CD?

ma

I can only press F2 F9 and F10 at the start. If I press F11, nothing happens…

The manufacturer-supplied recovery disc resets the PC to the suspend state. It contains all device-specific drivers as well as additional software.

The Windows Installs DVD includes only the operating system and drivers provided by Microsoft. So it may well be that after an installation e.g. The network connection does not work, the corresponding driver was not provided by the disk.

Presumably, the hard disk was repartitioned once and thus removed the optimal recovery option that I have suggested.

Check the supplied media for contamination and try reinstallation. It can come to long waiting times, so be patient! Possibly. Can you get a new disk from Medion? Before the reinstallation, the hard disk should be extensively reformatted.
