Does 4k run fine at 32 on a weak laptop AND MacBook Pro?

I'm trying to find out about a new monitor purchase (250-450 euro) for a friend and I urgently need help, especially for the purpose of 4k vs 1440p.

She has a MacBook Pro to work with and her son currently has a PS4 Pro and an HP 15s-eq0355ng with a Radeon Vega 8.

1440p would be enough for sure, but I wonder if 4k brings additional benefits like sharper text since we're going to buy a 32 inch monitor.

Ask:

Are 32 inches enough to get NO scaling problems with 4k, especially with the MacBook but also with Windows?
Can the relatively weak laptop with the Radeon Vega 8 output 4k at 60Hz at all? So outside of games, of course.

If only 1440p is recommended anyway, then a native 1440p monitor is probably the better choice.

But if you actually have NO problems with scaling with 4k with 32 inches, but noticeable advantages in terms of sharpness with text and it is also possible at all with your laptop and the whole thing would work without loss of speed then 4k would perhaps be better.

Additional questions: To what extent should I value HDR or 144Hz? Gaming at the same level is still in the stars for her ~ 14 year old son, but could perhaps come in 2 years. At the moment, only differences in office work would be visible for the purpose of Hertz, but they would not be so serious, would they? Should one take precautions?

I'm very grateful for every little tip and every experience!

Thanks for the answer, but I had no doubts whether the MacBook Pro 4k can output, but I probably forgot to write it is the MacBook Pro 16 "(2019). I only used the Windows laptop with the Radeon Vega 8 myself Graka unsafe. With the MacBook (as well as with the Windows laptop) the main question was how 4K (or, more correctly, UHD) is doing with only 32 ", because with 100% scaling it is definitely too small and the scaling is above all not necessarily well resolved on Mac. Maybe 32 "is enough to avoid any major problems with UHD / 4k. I don't know whether a potential gain in quality is worth this risk.

So in general, the scaling on the Mac is no worse (rather better) than on Windows. 4k at 32 "is of course not much and has never been used like this before. I currently have a LG UltraFine 5k with 27" and that is a perfect resolution and is similar to the MacBook Pro 16 ".

At 32 ", 4k would be far too little for me and 1440p not at all. You can address every single pixel by name.

But it is my personal opinion and also has to do with the fact that, as a developer and web designer, I naturally look a lot at small text and a sharp display is very noticeable there. This is generally less noticeable in games or videos.

But if you want a 32 "display, then I would definitely recommend at least 4k.

Haha. Everyone has so different demands. That even 4k at 32 inches is not enough for you is a statement. But she can also see relatively poorly, which is why it might be advisable to use a higher sharpness if you already say that it is definitely noticeable.
