So, my MacBook Pro (13 ", 2017) has not worked for weeks. If I only have 5% left and then plug in the charging cable, this changes from 5% to 3%. If I then remove the charging cable, it is up once 4%. From one point my MacBook Pro just shuts down. When I turn it on, it says all the time that my MacBook has to be charged. And it takes a long time until it has 1%, about 5 -7 minutes. It also hangs very often and very strongly. In addition, a category called "Other" takes a lot from my memory, about 20GB - I have 128GB on my MacBook and it takes up so much space, I find it very bad.
Many of my friends told me that I should buy a new laptop every 2-3 years and now I wanted to ask:
Is it really worth buying a new MacBook because of this problem or should I rather drop in for a repair? How much would a repair cost?
If I should buy a new MacBook, which one should I get? Should I buy one with 256GB or 512GB? I'm considering getting the latest 13 "MacBook Pro, but I'm not sure. I use my MacBook for school most of the time, but I would also like to get Photoshop and then create some GIFs and designs, etc. And maybe Get some of my favorite games back - and yes, I know that Mac is not meant for games.
I thank you already times in advance!
Get a new one, a repair is usually not worth it and is far too expensive. Nowadays, the manufacturers build their devices in such a way that they do not last that long. My Windows XP computer still works like it did on the first day. A laptop that I bought 2 years ago now only does half as much as it did on the release date.
But some manufacturers definitely don't do this to Apple. They tried again and again, by all means, to keep the devices as long as possible.
Well with my ipod 4g I can no longer download apps. If I uninstall something there forever.
A PC should be changed every 2-3 years, but a Mac lasts much longer.
But your battery seems to be broken. The battery service costs 139 euro, which would still be worthwhile with the MacBook. If your keyboard has a defect, you can go to the exchange program and the battery will be replaced at the same time.
Some program has full 20GB for you, macOS does not need as much memory. Just search for it, then you can release it again.
256GB smells, you can just push everything into the iCloud.
Instead of Photoshop, you can also buy Affinity Photo, which can be almost exactly the same, but you don't need a subscription.
This is not due to Apple, but to the developer, who no longer makes the app available for such old devices.
I was having problems with my 2014 Macbook Pro.
Off to the next workshop and I was helped to my full satisfaction.
Apple does not build devices to dispose of after 2 years.
They thought something about their technique.
Either go to a professional workshop nearby, send the device in there or have a workshop given to you via support and get a quote.
