I found a cheap Macbook Pro (2017 model) in top condition for 600 euro. However, the device only has a 128GB SSD. I use my current Windows notebook as follows: create applications with Libre Office, create PDFs, surf the Internet. So far I haven't used any major programs like Photoshop etc. And I don't plan to do so in the near future. Is the 128GB storage space enough for my circumstances or should I fall back on 256GB? The price and the condition are very good. In addition, it only has 190 charge cycles.
Apple charges a hell of a surcharge for more memory. Even when used, the higher price is of course still noticeable. The 128GB is enough for most people who only edit a few documents with it. Otherwise there are already very cheap external SSDs.
If you only save text documents that will be enough
Well: How much storage space are you currently using on your Windows notebook? This can't be compared 1: 1, since the two systems allocate the memory differently and the operating systems are of different sizes, but it is at least a very good reference point. If you're scratching the 128GB, I'd rather be looking for a 256GB device.
I have a Macbook Air 2017 model with 128gb. I also only use it for surfing, office etc.
The 128gb are enough for me so far, still have about 50gb free. If it gets tight I still have 1tb cloud storage.
I still have 65.6GB of 128GB free.
Then I wouldn't worry about the Macbook either, the 128GB should definitely be enough.
