I was at Aldi today and bought a new PC, it was such an offer.
Intel Core 5 9400…
At home I still have my old monitor because I would like to keep it.
However, this only has a VGA / DVI connection.
I used the VGA connector on my monitor and connected it to my old PC.
The new PC no longer has a VGA connection. (yes, I know old technology…)
I now consider when I buy such a VGA USB adapter
https://www.ebay.de/...4539315937
with this I could simply connect my old monitor to my new PC via USB.
Is it that easy?
Or do I have to pay attention to something else?
Would you prefer to get a VGA to DVI adapter in your place, in principle it does the thing you looked for, but also.
If your aldi-pc is equipped normally, then it always has more than one graphics port. Today either hdmi + dvi or even hdmi with the two older dvi and vga.
if it has a DVI output and your monitor also has one, what's your problem?
Yes, it works
I just hope that when I connect my PC to this adapter and then connect it to my PC with the USB cable, it works that way and the screen also shows something.

Sincere condolences, money thrown out the window.

There are cables from VGA to DVI and even adapters from HDMI to VGA
On the China market:
-> aliexpress
These adapters can also be found on auction platforms (e… Y).
They also have a separate audio output because VGA (analog technology) does not transmit audio signals. Using a small cable, the audio signals can also be correctly output via Line in or Audio In via the PC. Alternatively, active loudspeakers can also be connected there.
Cost for such an adapter (depending on the shop) between 5 and 15 euro and depending on the shop also free shipping, even from China.
I bought an adapter for fun and used it with my cable receiver that only had HDMI and Scart as an output. The old monitor I had had only DVI and VGA. So I was able to watch cable TV. Back then I had no HDMI cable on hand:-)
Yes, that will work.
However, I would recommend an HDMI to DVI cable - since HDMI is an extension of DVI-D except for the connector form, there are no losses due to conversion. For example, the operating system then reliably detects the resolution of the monitor.
