My laptop has no drive and I wanted to download Sims4 today.
Downloading is without any optical drive, you only need a hard drive (which your laptop guaranteed)
The point of a download is to replace the job of the drive. So you don't need one if you want to download a game.
I would then advise you to see if you have enough space for the game on your hard drive.
Furthermore, I assume that you do not have a laptop designed for gaming. Therefore, it would make sense to switch on the laptop mode later in the game on Sims 4 to get a better gaming experience.
