What are Flash applications?

Basically every laptop can, yes. However, Flash will soon be over because it poses a chronic security risk, particularly as a browser plug-in.

Ja

Represent? Yes, provided the browser has installed the Adobe Flashplayer plugin.

Edit / edit? In principle yes, but Adobe Flash Professional CC is required. An expensive software from the professional / professional branch.

At the same time, Adobe has been insisting since 2017 that developers and operators should finally stop using the Flash format and integrate it into websites, as this has repeatedly caused serious security gaps for many years and Adobe itself has stopped developing in favor of the open standard of HTML5.

At the end of the year, the browser manufacturers are now pulling the rope. For a long time, most browsers have only called and loaded Flash in explicit browsers. From the end of the year, support for the format will then be discontinued completely and it will no longer be possible to access Flash content with current browser versions.

Flash was invented by Macromedia at the time to play animations on websites. The website contains a script which is then played by the Macromedia Flashplayer in the browser. These animations can be "fixed" as in a video or interactive. In the past there were many games for the browser based on Flash. Videos with particularly good compression could also be played with Flash in the browser. Youtube was based on Macromedia Flash for a long time.

Unfortunately, too many functions have been built in, which made it possible to access data on the computer via the Internet and even to change or delete them. So it was possible to get passwords and personal data by simply putting a fun game with malicious functions on a website. Of course, you could also upload other viruses to a PC if the user simply went to the website and suspected nothing bad.

That's why Apple refuses to release a flash player for their operating systems. With an iPhone without a jailbreak, it is impossible to play flash scripts, on a Mac you have to install a third-party player. Android doesn't have a flash player either, so you have to download it yourself, but there are official Macromedia players here.

Even with Windows, the flash player is not included as standard, you have to download and install it separately.

Youtube switched over about 10 years ago and runs on the new HTML5 functions, but then completely eliminated Flash a few years ago. Now you can only use Youtube with a browser that can at least HTML5, an old laptop with an old browser can no longer play YouTube.

In the past, there was also a lot of advertising via Flash on websites. Many websites also had animations or intro pages based on Flash. Since Iphone & Co and modern browsers (without installing macromedia Flash) can no longer play all of this, Flash has almost completely disappeared from websites.

There was a time that started long before Youtube, when flash animations were spread virally via email.

There was political satire:

Many of the old viral flash animations can be admired on Youtube, take a look:

The End Of The World
Heavy metal guy
Happy Tree Friends
Lodger TV
Humor pong
Internet killed the video star parody of "Video killed the radio star", first music video that MTV broadcast)

Thank you! I will soon have a training course with an online pre course. As a prerequisite, you had to have a WLAN and flash-capable laptop.

This is not a good sign for the competencies of the course organizers!

Then it's best to install Firefox and look for and install Macromedia Flash in the plugins.

This would basically work on a tablet under Android, but there are many flash functions missing that could cause damage, so you can't be sure whether the training flash works completely.

Chromium is also designed to allow as little damage as possible from flash, so it is not recommended. IE and Firefox (on Windows) give you the highest chance that it will work. If not, the blame is on the makers of the training, since IE and FireFox are considered the industry standard.

All right. So I don't fly with them. They'll fix their turbines with armored tape.
