Flash Insyde BIOS ROM via DOS?

I have a very complicated problem. I want to do a BIOS downgrade on my old laptop. I now have a DOS file from the old BIOS. I also have a USB stick with DOS on it.

Now I don't know how to flash the BIOS in the end. I need some exe to flash the ROM. What do i need there

In the latest BIOS update installer there's a file with the name "InsydeFlash.exe" but I can't run it in DOS.

Va

You have to run from the console.

sa

But what do I have to do?!

sa

And in which console? In DOS or Windows? He should also flash the ROM. How do I get it?

Va

Insydeflash

Va

In DOS

sa

It does not work. It says there's no DOS application.

sa

Is there a universal flash tool?

Va

Depends on your bios but that should always be in the readme which flash tool is recommended.

sa

So I got the BIOS from someone on the forum who put it in for a completely different reason. There's really only ne Rome there.

Va

Yes, as I said, it depends on what kind of bios that is. AMI? Then you can use Afudos.

Ci

Isn't there a tool from the laptop manufacturer to flash the BIOS in DOS? Usually there's also a .exe in the bios file… Gigabyte is called efiflash and is definitely for AMI UEFI whether BIOS is also possible…

To start DOS based .exe files I would recommend the tool RUFUS with which you can create a bootable stick with FreeDOS as BS…

sa

It's Insyde. I've never heard of it.

Va

But there should also be for dos. I only know from HP notebooks.

sa

Hm, unfortunately Lenovo only has one exe (at least on the support page). There's nothing from AMI in the BIOS, but Insyde. Unfortunately I don't find much about the bios.

sa

But where? Unfortunately I don't find anything.

Va

Believe insydeflash is win7 or 10 only as I see it.

sa

Yes.

Va

Then you have to do this via win10 and then the program will probably do the flash in a dos environment

Ci

Ok so that there's an Insyde BIOS I only know now ^^
Does LENOVO really not have any BIOS file history / archive in DL support?

sa

But how do I get it to flash the DOS file?

sa

No, nothing

Va

Start Insydeflash. Make a backup, and then flash the desired bios.

Ci

Ok… Then n meters back why do you want to downgrade the BIOS?

sa

Because the new is totally buggy and the graphics chip has not worked since the update.

Ci

So if windows can still be installed I would do that and then flash with this windows tool…

sa

Sure, I'm on Windows, but unfortunately I only have a ROM file from the old BIOS. No matter how, but how do I get a ROM flashed?

Ci

Sorry, just read… You have this InsydeFlash.exe that should run on Windows and get along with the BIOS file.
