What does which LED symbol mean on the laptop
An

My laptop has the same thing there,

This means that the laptop is currently active.

If it glows orange, it is in economy mode.

Bi

Do you know a lot about laptops?

Vi

From top to bottom

Turned on

CD?
reception

An

Yes, but only from the operating system, the inner workings not so.

Bi

Okay then I have a clear problem

The screen remains black, regardless of whether the battery is in it or the power supply is connected, then the CD symbol flashes but there's none

fan is still very, very quiet

what could that be

Le

Just check if I can save my lapi myself

what problems do you have with your device?

Bi

Just described my problem in a comment above

am considering whether I should send the laptop for repair or better buy a new one

Vi

It could also be HDD. So hard drive. Wouldn't be unusual then.

Bi

It no longer starts properly

when everything was still good you heard the fan and the typical start-up tone

the screen remains black no matter whether I turn it on with the cable and power supply or both separately

in addition, there's no more fan noise and the display seems to spin

CD is displayed even though there's none

An

Is it because of this, is there important data on it that is worth saving and is it cheap to repair? If neither of these two points concerns you then I would advise you to get a new laptop. You should try to move Windows to USB and boot there BEFORE.

Bi

Well, such important data may not be a shame and I have no idea about the costs

An

Do you have a free 8GB USB stick somewhere?

Bi

Yes

An

So, first of all, I don't think it will work, but it's worth a try.

Do you have another device that has access to the Internet and a USB port?

If so, please load Windows onto the stick via MediaCreationTool.

EDIT:

you will lose all of your data if you do a new installation

Bi

Oh you don't know me about anything like that

I'll check

An

OK

Experiment from personal experience: take the battery out (if possible), plug in the external monitor and then switch on. Could be a problem with the graphics card. If that doesn't work, you could get yourself an https://www.alternate.de/ICY-BOX/IB-AC603-Adapter/html/product/447360?event=search, remove the plate (that's easy, go to Google / Youtube if necessary) and connect it to another PC / laptop like a USB stick and save your data.

However, the device looks a bit older to me. A new purchase would be worth it.

Reposition the box if it still starts…

Ma

Here are good tips for a known problem with the Windows 8.1 graphics drivers, you should then use the old Windows 8.0 drivers again.

Maybe it will help you!
