How do I know if a DVD copy is protected?

The following problem exists. I try to create a backup, to "daily" watch on the TV, with the help of a DVD recorder from Panasonic and a TV from Panansonic.

Whenever I start copying, the message "TV system incompatible" appears. Does that mean the DVD is copy protected?

PS. On the laptop, this DVD without "complain" easily with the help of NERO 2016 copy to the hard drive. Currently this DXVD is still burning (already for 2:11 hours, DVD has 5.38 GB), so that I can't say whether the burning works here as well.
