So I have the following problem: I moved to a new city where I have no close contacts. For some reason my laptop does not recognize the Wi-Fi in the dorm where I live. I'm looking for a public WLAN in a quite large city (Karlsruhe). The condition is that I can sit down covered with my laptop. Do you have any ideas where there could be something like this?

Look at the signs where there's Wi-Fi everywhere.
There are now a lot of cafes that have something like that. For some time now even our Lidl has had free Wi-Fi in a small town.
But normally you would have to have a connection for a multimedia socket in your room, so it would be more useful that you connect by cable and possibly the necessary router.
