Personal liability and other liability?

Moin Leude,

For school: If you want to report a damage, be it a vase, a laptop or something else, is the procedure the same for everyone with regard to reporting the damage, damage form, etc? Or are there differences? The online site cosmosdirekt explains what needs to be considered, but does that apply in general?

Ge

Yes, a damage report always runs the same.

This applies to all insurance.

In the first step, report the damage fairly promptly, even if you don't know for sure whether the damage needs to be regulated at all.

Lo

If someone makes a claim against you because you culpably (actually or allegedly) caused damage to them, you tell your insurer. He will then tell you what information he needs.

It is the same and yet different…

Basically, the process is always the same. What is not the same, however, are the questions asked on the claims forms.

It is not uncommon for insurance companies to ask MORE questions than are allowed, or try to ask questions that a person does not need to answer.

As a rule, the following applies: If a customer tries to negotiate a "deal" with an insurance company on their own, the customer will be nibbled on without actually realizing it.

Rather talk to your insurance broker about such things and get help. With an insurance broker by your side, you talk to an insurance company on an equal footing.

De

Liability insurance basically has 3 tasks

it examines the legal situation, this is based on § 823 BGB

fends off unjustified claims (also in court)

and compensates justified claims of an injured party.

ALWAYS in this order.
