For a few days my laptop is not working properly (Windows 8). Every time I want to start it, the message comes: a moment please be patient… But even after half an hour, nothing happens. If I let it crash then, using the power button and start again, the message comes back, but after about 1-2 minutes, I can log in.
I have tried different virus protection programs. To be precise 2 (Avira, Avast).
I've uninstalled all the programs I've recently downloaded.
Now I have no idea what else I could do.
I realize that I could put a new operating system on my laptop, but I did not back up my data, or most of them.
You can reinstall your operating system within 30 minutes via the settings under "Restore" without endangering your personal documents. I have already done this twice myself.
If the error persists, you should choose the final restore and back up important files on a USB stick.
I wish you luck!
P.S.: The best thing you can do is install Windows 10 - you can get that for less than 10 euro if you google for "Windows 10 cheap" (it's legal, price comes with mass discounts, etc.)
Start in safe mode and deinstalleire the last update.
I would also uninstall the anti-virus programs, at least one. Prefer Windows Defender. Is not better, but less problems.
With Windows 8, I've had 2 times the problems you have described.
Fortunately, the Medion already considered this and had a recovery software included, so you had to start this only in the BIOS / UEFI and after a nice step-by-step instructions as in our installation, everything was well again. (I backed up my data anyway using a Linux bootstick, you never know)
If you do not, it gets more complicated. Again, I would back up my data via Windows, via a Linux bootstick or a https://www.pcwelt.de/...97996.html DVD, but then overwrite everything with a Windows 7 or Windows 10 installation. However, if you would like to install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 again, I recommend a recovery software for the next time (even though I'm sorry I can't see which one).
The BIOS / UEFI or boot menu can be accessed by pressing one of the F-keys Esc or Del right after the start button. Which varies depending on the manufacturer. However, it is usually the F12 key for the boot menu that allows you to boot from the DVD or the USB stick, and F2 for the BIOS Setup menu that you may need to turn off the Secure Boot that an operating system other than Windows is booted.
Thank you. I'll give it a try.
Wanted to stay with Windows 8. I'm not a fan of Windows 10:)
Windows 8 is known for its problems, especially 8.0 - I assume you have 8.1. The teething problems of Windows 10 are worked out and Windows 10 is the most powerful and relaxed Windows ever. You can restore the Windows 8 style through the Win10 settings, should that be your fault.
