I want to buy a laptop in the range of 500 euro. But due to the huge selection (and lack of knowledge) I don't know which one to use… Which laptops are the best in the price segment?
What do you need it for? For the price you get (almost) a used Lenovo P50, which is the predecessor of the current workstation monster from Lenovo. It's great for working, but doesn't have a 3D card that is optimized for gaming and the 170W power supply is as heavy as the whole laptop on other laptops…
How mobile does he have to be?
What do you want to do with it?
The choice of PC or laptop always depends on what you need it for. Workstation? Or gaming?
Take it to school, watch films, occasionally gamble xD, your proposed laptop is better than e.g. The Honor Magic book 14?

Mainly for school. Occasionally, maybe for gaming, but it doesn't have to be.

The Honor Magic book 14 as I found it with Google has Ryzen5 4500U and 16GB RAM. You get the P50 with Xeon E3 or i7 and up to 128GB RAM. It has the larger display and is much more robust (if you ever drop a drink it just flows out below) … There's a reason why the used and 4 year old is still as expensive as the new Honor Book…
But it is also much heavier and the Quadro graphics card is optimized for CAD, 3D and computing… If you carry it somewhere every day, you break yourself unnecessarily.
Take a look at the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. You can get the used ones for the money that you want to spend.

Take a look at the Asus Vivobook 15 y509fa-ej337t (have the same one). I can only recommend the laptop. Rocket League should work too, just need to adjust the graphics settings.
