My parish would like to stream their church service live on the internet - and the question is clearly how!
1) First the question about the platform? Which ones are there that you could recommend - so that the visitors don't have to register somewhere or even have to install an extra plug-in / program?
2) An internet connection that has enough upstream - how much is it needed for something like that? Is it possible via Wi-Fi?
3) Do I need a special program on my laptop for this - which one (or does it come from the platform)?
4) Camera & sound is probably the most difficult:
Both of these must be fed digitally (digital camera with analog signal output would we have a good one (BNC))?
Can you make recommendations?
Is it possible to record sound & image separately and send them to the notebook for streaming?
Maybe you could give me some tips?
Do it with zoom…
Many do that
Ask Jehovah's Witnesses, they have been doing it this way around the world right from the start of the pandemic. We have not yet missed a single meeting, and as I said, in several hundred languages around the world.
Just buy a webcam and stream on Youtube or Twitch.
But Zoom needs a plugin / application.
Who do you think I should turn to?
Very nice, and very concrete, but do you think this webcam is light strong enough and can capture the sound that has a bit of reverberation in churches?
Don't you know any Jehovah's Witnesses in your neighborhood? Look in the phone book and when you've reached someone, ask them if you can ever attend a meeting. Our meetings were public until the corona crisis, everyone could go into the hall. Now you have to look for contact. You will then be screened a bit because - the mother of the porcelain box is careful! This is especially true for our time!
That was only meant as an example.
I don't know the video or audio conditions in a church.
Assumed "normal" rooms. ^^
Jitsi works in the browser
So I would try to set up a camcorder as a webcam. For the video track.
In terms of sound, everyone should actually have a microphone, which is mixed together on a stereo track in the PC via a mixer with audio interface or via an audio interface. For the audio track.
Our community uses YouTube as a streaming portal.
The upload depends on your management on site. No provider can offer a better line if there's no better one. And if there's a lot on the Internet at that moment, it can also lead to a break-in.
But if you don't plan on miking anyway, you could just use the camcorder's sound. Or maybe at least set up two inexpensive large-diaphragm condenser microphones.
