Which application can be used to cut and join audio recordings? (Windows)?

Hi. I need a program with which I can cut my audio recordings (Microsoft Windows laptop). It would also be cool if I could convert them to MP4.

Free would be great, of course, otherwise one that is not too expensive.

As far as I know, you can't create MP4 files with Audacity, as this is generally considered a video format. However, it is not a big problem to convert this with another program (after editing). MP4 is initially just a container format, the codec would be interesting.

And with FFmpec for Audacity you can import / export MP4 containers with Audacity.

On the Audacity page it says that it can be imported and exported with the additionally installed FFmpeg mp4. I was able to export at least M4A containers with the AAC codec.
