What do you think of a media ban in the German Bundestag?

I regularly follow debates in the German Bundestag and am constantly amazed and annoyed. There are so-called "representatives of the people" and stare at their cell phone, laptop or other media to distract themselves from the public democratic discourse in parliament, justify this a wage of several thousand euro per month? I'm in this zwie split regardless of the work that those politicians inevitably have to bear as well…

This is ultimately a job like any other and I would like to see the company in which something is ok.

And as for the work you're addressing, nobody is forcing people to do that job.

If a politician looks into his documents, in a folder or similar. Then that's OK. But if he has a PDF on the tablet or on the smartphone, then that is suddenly no longer OK?

You do not have a clue of what the individual does. You do not know if this has anything to do with your job or if they somehow kill time. You're just assuming something, you're figuring something out, and then you're upset about your fantasies.

And by the way, prohibiting media use would be more than stupid. You might as well ban pencils.

I can show you a lot of companies in which it is OK to look at documents that are relevant to the work on the laptop (or tablet, smartpone).

It will be much more difficult to find a company where this is prohibited.

So private pleasures are not there, that's true. To what extent the devices are used and needed professionally even in such moments, I do not know. But if I take the British for comparison, they do not even have a filing for laptop and Co. Consequently, I suspect that these are not needed.

Apart from that, I always notice how bored and disinterested the politicians often seem, although another in the pulpit speaks to everyone. Which sometimes not only astonishes me but also annoys me. Inasmuch as I also wonder what they are at least paid for in such moments. Then comes here and there ever the idea that it is not surprising that it usually takes ages to come to an agreement and thus to a decision.

Something in me says that not all just read something related 😁

Then shut your nose?
