After a power failure, our TP-Link router has failed. After it was back on the network, the Wi-Fi connection was no longer displayed on the devices that were previously connected to the router, although the light comes on with the Internet connection.
I unplugged the device again for half a minute and then tried again. Again nothing is displayed.
I then put the router back to the factory settings, connected it via Ethernet cable to my laptop and went through the setup setup. When I'm connected to the Ethernet cable, I have an internet connection.
Even after the setup is no Wi-Fi connection possible. I then tried to change various settings but all this brought nothing. Do I have to get a new router now or are there any tricks on how to get the whole thing up and running again?
I thank you in advance!
If the TP-LINK router has a Wi-Fi LED, it must be lit to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
If the WLAN LED is not lit, switch it on the router again. Either via the WLAN button or via the configuration page of the router (call in the browser).
On the configuration page of the router, you can also see if Wi-Fi is enabled. Broken is the router probably not, he is just not set correctly. Set the same SSID and Wi-Fi password (what you had before) on the configuration page of the router.
The router (model TL-WR940N) actually has only one LED, which lights up orange when the device is switched on and constantly lights up blue when connected to the Internet.
I still have a Wi-Fi / WPS button behind but nothing happens after the press.
Name and password are set as before. However, no wlan column in the configuration menu, only, Network "and, wireless".
Yeah right! Wireless means wireless so "WLAN", so there you can set the router regarding WLAN (synonym is Wi-Fi).
Here are the instructions for the WLAN password:
https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/1318/
And you can change the WLAN name (= SSID) here:
Wireless> Wireless Settings
• Name (SSID) - The SSID of the router.
PS:
Incidentally, the WPS button is a quick way to a device that also has a WPS button or a WPS menu has to connect quickly with your Wi-Fi. In this case, wireless password are transmitted fully automatically… No typing required!
Press the WPS button on the router and then press the WPS button (or WPS menu item) on the PC / smartphone / laptop / tablet… And the WLAN device will automatically connect to your WLAN. A very easy connection method!
