I accidentally deleted an important Word file from my USB stick, assuming I had a copy left on the laptop. I did not have that. Now I have restored the file with a program, but unfortunately can't open it because it is too damaged.
If I open it normally with Word, an error message comes up. I have tried to restore the text, but this is not a text but an indiscriminate sequence of letters and special characters (ÉÁð \ † ³'C︸ ¸ # ô¯ò> † ûýÄ1Ñ-pLÁ¨òÌv ŸŸÔ8g¤ | z s¾¬Ebc ' {Þþ! ËÝ®Þ ~ d-¡ # "íÒáœSŸ5ÍÈyù|¸u" ù # ¬).
Is there a way out of this jumble to create correct text again? I've tried almost everything, and it just stays that way.
No. If the file is too damaged you will be out of luck.
How important was the file?
If the content can no longer be opened with Word, it is likely that after deleting the file, the part of the USB stick was overwritten, where previously the file was stored.
The file now lacks parts that have given the file its structure, in other words Word knows that the file is missing something, but it can't be determined where or what the problem is.
This unfortunately means that the file is lost and no parts can be restored.
Ever tried to open the file with a text editor?
