How does an Ethernet bridge work?

My laptop can't connect to my Wi-Fi and it is only with Ethernet cable. I then started to googles and then came across the ethernet bridge. Because I do not know my way I wanted to ask if I can use it to replace the Ethernet cable.

There's the possibility to build a LAN Wlan connection here you need a module which you put in the Lan connection and this can then build a wireless connection. But if plaything, would recommend you to use a cable

This only confuses the questioner and leads him in the wrong direction.

The asker probably wants a WLAN client adapter or a Wi-Fi stick.

I think your laptop has a built-in Wi-Fi adapter, bring it to run (driver installed?) And you're rid of the LAN cable.

If you do not get the built-in wireless adapter to work, you can still buy a Wi-Fi USB stick. You plug it into a USB port on the laptop, install the drivers and your laptop already has a working WLAN.

There are two types of WLAN sticks:

The cheap only the wireless n-standard with 2.4 GHz can.

And the more modern, which can use the wireless n and ac standard with 2.4 and 5 GHz.

If you suspect range problems, then pay attention to the purchase of visible antennas, which have a better range and thus better Wi-Fi reception.

Pay attention to the supported operating system when buying, not all WLAN sticks have suitable drivers for all operating systems.

I just notice in your description. You write "Laptop can't do it".

So if you can "see" your Wi-Fi network on the laptop, and just rejecting the connection to your wireless router after entering the Wi-Fi password, there may be a very simple reason for that.

The MAC filter is activated in your WLAN router and thus the router rejects all new WLAN clients.

If so, connect with the WPS procedure. The WPS method automatically extends the MAC filter in the router for your laptop.

So press the WPS button (connect button) on the router, it will blink for two minutes. Now on the laptop to call the list of Wi-Fi network and there trigger the WPS procedure, then fully automatic (without password input), the connection to your wireless set up. Finished!

Could you explain that to me more exactly? For the cable, I always have to sit near the router.
