I hope you take the time to read through. Well, I have been playing Fortnite for fun for a long time and have now started with League. Problem, I play on a laptop that works quite well with League, but at Fortnite I only reach 20 fps… If at all😅
I could actually play on my parents' computer, but there are two problems: 1. It will soon be in the living room and 2. I want to get red dead redemption 2 and GTA… And he doesn't get it…
actually I tend towards the console because I lack the necessary change, but maybe there are also cheaper PCs that pack these games? I would be happy for some good answers.
So in the long run, PC will be as expensive as console, since games are often much cheaper there. Nevertheless, if you can handle the controller and don't have the necessary change at the moment, you'd better get a console, whereby you should keep in mind that the normal PS4 and Xbox only output 30 FPS.
So there's the following to consider:
Consoles are cheaper than a PC, that's true, but a console is associated with follow-up costs:
Online services cost about 50 euro per year
Console games are insanely expensive
Of course, a console is easier to use, more than 30 fps or beautiful graphics is not a matter of course.
How much budget do you have?
How about the xBox one x? Isn't that better?
A PC - which can display the graphics - as it is on ner xbox one x or ner ps4 pro - you have to take around 1300 euro in hand.
You can get a XBOX ONE X for around 400 euro.
Advantage here:
switch on, gamble, switch off
Updates are automatically drawn and installed - if you want it on xbox one X.
Games are programmed to match the console
Games run smoothly
far less wasted space
the XBOX controller is probably one of the best controllers ever
Play Fortnite and everything you want to gamble on the console. I have GTA5 and RDR2 on the ONE x and I'm very satisfied, the console also stays nice and quiet - which you can't say about the PS4 right now
It's better, yes. And a lot quieter. And with the GAME PASS or ULTIMATE you get a pool of around 160 full game versions, which are more every week and are also - in general - the xbox games in the store cheaper than those in the PS Plus Store
I would rather not spend more than 700 euro, ideally not over 500 euro, but I want something that is worthwhile in the long term and would therefore also go up to 700 euro
Okay thank you very much
Thank you very much, you know you can play on the Xbox with keyboard and mouse if you feel like it?
Yes of course you can connect a keyboard and mouse to an XBOX ONE X.
You only have disadvantages with consoles. A PC for 600 euro is enough for 60 fps, so you can logically do everything else that a PC can do.
For much better 144hz you should spend 800-1000 euro. And that's also worth it, because afterwards you don't want to play at all than to have to use 60hz again.
So if you can build yourself, I have put something together for you here:
https://geizhals.eu/?cat=WL-1550146
Yes it outputs 60 FPS in most games, just like the PS4pro. So almost as much as a mid-range PC. Then the only question is which of the two systems you want to choose.
And we prefer not to speak of the graphics on the consoles xD
Thanks a lot for the trouble.
No problem 😀
If not PC then probably xbox
However, he already has a laptop for office applications and you can get a PS for around 400. That's 200 euro less, and I don't think it makes sense to get a reasonably reasonable PC just for console-optimized games. And this 60hz argument… Then he also has to buy a screen with 144hz in order to fully benefit from it (I doubt that he already has one on an office PC).
Just so that the whole thing is not so one-sided.
So it costs 66% of a PC, but only 5% of the things that a PC can do and that with 40% of the performance. Where there's meaning is still hidden to me.
With the games you mentioned, which are all a bit older and since you already have a laptop and PC, a console is worthwhile as an alternative.
Personally, I would recommend the PS4 pro or even Xbox One X because the normal PS and the One S have to struggle with some titles.
So what's wrong with that?
I have a One X and a Gears 5 or Horizon 4 looks great on it, runs in 4k with HDR and always stays smooth.
On the PS Pro, I play exclusives that are not available on other platforms and these are also easy to see through the bank.
Okay, apart from gaming and office applications that are covered by the console and his laptop: What other functions should he use with the PC? Render videos? Edit graphic? 3D modeling? I'll put up the steep thesis that this is of no interest to the questioner.
On the other hand, with a console, he has the option of streaming music and video, as well as Blu-Rays and the like, conveniently in a device that he simply straps on the TV. Consoles are simply useful as a multimedia player.
Then he seems to be mainly interested in AAA titles, the exclusive titles would also be available with a console, e.g. God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, etc. Of course, many (especially indie) titles are dropped, but everyone has to decide how much he wants to play.
He is also interested in RDR2 and GTAV, which are optimized for the console anyway. And the better graphics, or the more frames (which have only limited use without a 144hz monitor anyway), are not worth the higher costs and the more effort that a PC entails for casual gamers. Because without a clue of hardware you have to rely on the advice of others, you probably don't dare to assemble yourself and therefore have to have it assembled or buy ready, and be careful not to pay too much money for little performance.
As someone who used to prefer X-Box in addition to the PC:
Remember that the (few) X-Box exclusive titles, meanwhile all are actually available on PC. So if you buy a PC later, you can play the "exclusive titles" anyway. And the Playstation has more (and also really good) exclusive titles. You should at least take a look at God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Last of Us before committing to X-Box.
The only thing that I still like better about the X-Box is the shape of the controller.
So first of all 30fps are not smooth and actually unplayable.
Construction games are a pain with controllers.
Shooters aren't great, but they work.
Role playing is just the way it is
They are good for racing games, but a steering wheel is better
Nevertheless, these can't be compared to PC graphics.
Also, I didn't say all games look bad, just a few
E.g. Ark
There are also some games (surviving Mars, where my Xbox one didn't even reach 30fos
Did I say that? Of course, current games look better on a reasonable PC. But we're talking about hardware that is years old and the exclusives on console don't need to hide.
Therefore again as a quote:
"And we prefer not to talk about graphics on consoles"
Sounds generalized and not like targeting specific titles.
And as for Ark or Suviving Mars. They are simply sloppy programmed and implemented. This also happens on PCs. I'm just saying Assassin's Creed Rouge or Batman Arkham Night.
In fact, I played on an Xbox one for 2 years and the reasons for the PC were
1) better graphics
2) play lay-free
3) keyboard and mouse (since strategy games were not fun for me)
By the way:
I have nothing against consoles (as I said, I have one myself) but in my opinion a PC from a budget of 500-600 euro makes more sense.
And just for information: In my childhood I played on a laptop and had ≈35fps in Minecraft there and I personally found it jerky.
(2) It was no fun for me, but since I had nothing else, I played on the laptop out of necessity.
However, if I could decide nowadays whether I want to have 60fps on the PC or 30fps on the console for 600 euro, I would always choose the PC
