So I want to install a few apps on my laptop. I have version 19.10 of Xubuntu.

Then when I downloaded an app and it e.g. I just want to start the application installation in the Ubuntu software center that this file type is not supported.

How can I make him accept it? Or how can I make the apps run on my laptop?

What apps?

Are they even suitable for Linux?
You can't just install an application compiled for Windows on Linux.

Programs under Linux are usually also loaded and installed via the package manager (APT for Ubuntu).

Lo

Which file extension does the "app" have?

St

Is apk. A file extension?

Lo

Yes, so .apk is an Android app, so it doesn't work on Linux, Mac or Windows

St

AH okay, that's probably why… Is there anything you can use AndroisdApps on Ubuntu for? Sorry, I know really bad about it:-)

Lo

All well, you may be able to install Android in a virtual box and then do it there, but that takes a lot of computing power. Or you can see if there are Android emulators for Linux

St

Okay thanks!

With Anbox there's a good approach for this purpose.

al

Apk = Android

Xubuntu = .deb .appimage .tar.gz .sh

Yes and everything behind the file is a file name extension

Lil.zip (zip is the file extension)

Bre.zip.txt (txt is the file extension)
