Hello I'm looking for a Linux that works without Gnome and Ubuntu I have a very weak pc Asus Notebook f551m on which every Linux I've tested so far freezes one including Linux MINT Ubuntu Kubuntu Linux lite popi os elementery every time the screen is frozen mouse and Keyboard didn't work then it should be because of a baytrayl cpu which linux can you recommend to me? Is there an alternative over there?

Ha

There's so much more to it than Ubuntu and Gnome. If you don't care that you need a relatively long time to set up the whole thing, try xfce Manjaro

st

Manjaro Linux? Is arch-based

Have you tested that before? Manjaro is available with several desktop variants such as Xfce, KDE, Gnome, Cinnamon…

Gu

Yes that doesn't work either

Gu

I've already frozen there too

Ha

Mint Ulyssa Xfce?

Gu

Yes the same i despair really slowly is my pc really not suitable for linux?

Ha

https://www.puppylinux.com/

Ha

If that doesn't work: https://www.bodhilinux.com/

Ha

And if that doesn't work, you won't be able to use Windows with it.

Gu

That's it, windows 10 works without problems only with linux the problem is

Ha

If even Bodhi doesn't run smoothly, Windows 10 shouldn't even start. Bodhi is about as demanding as Windows 95 and runs smoothly even on a Pentium III.

Gu

Okd anke will try and if so report to you and what can i do about the baytrayl cpu?

Gu

Opensuse Debian, A Fedoras Spin without Gnome is also available.

Beu Ubuntu could test an older or new version: there are 20.10 20.04-lts and 18.04.lts

If you are unlucky, your hardware is broken, or a component does not generally work under Linux.

Na

My personal favorites would be https://distrowatch.com/):

Debian with Cinnamon, Mate or LXDE as desktop
MXLinux with Xfce and SysVinit instead of systemd.
Q4OS with Trinity

If Gnome causes problems, KDE-Plasma is also not recommended.

According to this review, the Asus' performance is also rather modest:

Does that mean linux doesn't even run on the laptop?

to

Yes, they are all Linux distributions.

to

That this is your umpteenth question about this laptop and that it does not seem to work with all possible Linux distributions, which are really different from each other, this laptop is obviously and unfortunately not compatible with Linux without much effort. And a Linux beginner can hardly afford that.

If it wasn't for the current situation, I would advise you to go to one of the local Linux or Unix user groups. They could certainly help you if they were allowed to answer. But we will probably not get any further with remote diagnosis and help.

If you still want to try it out:

Gecko Linux with Xfce: https://geckolinux.github.io/#download

Manjaro with Xfce: https://manjaro.org/download/#xfce

MXLinux: https://sourceforge.net/...o/download or https://sourceforge.net/...o/download

By the way, these are all Linux distributions - they don't always have to have Linux in their names. Linux is just the kernel - the program at the very bottom of the system. Various programs build on this, which are then put together to form a distribution. Think of it like a Lego board as a kernel. You can build a house, a castle, a space station, … Or a space station castle on it. It is now very much explained at kindergarten level, but that is how you can really imagine it.

Do you mean by linux user do you mean the linux days? Isn't it just for members or is it free?

to

No, something like that

Unix User Group Rhein-Neckar - https://www.uugrn.org/

Linux User Group Mosbach - https://linuxwiki.de/LugMosbach

or similar.

to

People just meet and talk about Linux / Unix, help each other or plan events. Or you are just so nice to each other.

The Linux days are not free, but I mean you can be there for a small fee. I was only once as a speaker at the Ubuntu User Days.

Gu

Ah OK thanks

st

In all honesty… If Manjaro or Fedora don't even want to run on the laptop, then my prognosis is quite simply that the laptop is probably not compatible with Linux. Can vlt. Also be a hardware failure. But problems with different distributions simply indicate an incompatibility of the Linux kernel with your system.
