Hi on my laptop is currently installing Windows 10

Updates are being processed 26% is currently available.

It takes a little while, but the 26% took about an hour to complete.

Is it possible to switch off the laptop and later on, or what happens if I turn it off? What happens when the battery goes flat?

I think it is not possible to make that decision. But you can shut down, then the update seems to pause.

What happens when the battery goes flat?

In the best case, you just have to reinstall Windows, in the worst case, the whole system is in the bucket… Can never say exactly because no one knows at which point of the update deeper changes (for example, in UEFI or elsewhere) are made.

Yes, if it is a big update, it can take quite a while, depending on how fast the computer is and what is being uploaded to updates. I would not cancel because it can sometimes have quite unpleasant consequences. When you realize that the battery is running low, simply plug in the charging cable and leave it plugged in until the end of the installation.

I would run the laptop during the night. That has happened to me before. In the time it regulates itself. Such an update can sometimes take several hours.

Since nothing happens in Bios / uefi when Windows makes an update
