Notebook speakers broken?

Hi, the speakers of my notebook cracked a few times and now the right one is no longer working and the left one is very quiet. The headphones still work normally. Driver updated, did nothing.

Definitely sounds like slowly dying hardware.

Use the guarantee when it is still on. If the device is still up to date, if necessary. Send to the manufacturer for repair.

Self-repair is almost impossible with laptops, as the spare parts are tailored to the notebook model. If you don't get exactly what you need, it won't fit in the case. Especially since disassembling and assembling laptop cases can be tricky anyway. Depending on your expertise, I advise against it. It is easier and cheaper to connect external speakers in your home and use headphones on the go.

@Kelrycorfg: Thanks! It will probably be dying hardware, because I restored the notebook (Medion Eraser X6601 - MD60083 from 2017) to the delivery state and there was no improvement. The question now is: are the speakers (headphones still going well) or the sound card? I also had the same problem in the guarantee period. Then I had the speakers replaced. Let's see if there's a SYSTEM ANALYSIS PROGRAM for which I'm not too stupid. If it's the speakers again (would be strange, because the left one is going, even if quietly), I watch an instruction video on YouTube and maybe replace it myself. I'm not a LITTLE stupid!

I also come to the conclusion that either the miniature speakers are defective or the amplifier stage, which amplifies the signal that you still have the headphone jack without interference, in order to be able to control the speakers. A repair without original spare parts becomes difficult, but it is not impossible.

In comparable cases, I always did without repairs and instead connected small, external stereo speakers with audio interface and USB port, which sound much better and get the supply voltage from the USB port of the notebook.

This cheap part sounds very good, is well made and you take no risk of additionally damaging the notebook if you try to repair it.

Although I'm an experienced electronics technician, I think about taking a notebook down into its components, because a YouTube repair video is a great thing, but without practice and expertise, some things can go wrong.

It starts with the fact that when unscrewing the small screws, regardless of whether they are of different lengths (e.g. 3 mm or 5 mm), when assembling them later, you screw in one of the longer screws at a point where a short one belongs… This can then cause a short circuit or such unsightly little "pimples" on a previously smooth surface of the housing ;-). No matter if you disassemble the notebook, two of these miniature broadband chassis from Visaton could possibly fit.

And if the control electronics are defective, you can install a small audio amplifier IC to control the miniature speakers at a point where you can still find a few cm³ volume.

That is what I found without an extensive search, with a thorough research you can find other suitable ICs.

In the data sheet you will find all the information on how to connect the IC.
