Where does it come from that Western Digital is always recommended by everyone? (Because, and I've died so far 3 hard drives in total, 2 of which from Western Digital (one of which is the controller chip properly burned) the second is when booting easy reported as faulty and no longer starts and the third is a Seagate yes, which has started to klakkern and has always been freezing… (Windows etc…)
In addition I must say that, I altogether so far 3seagate plates had / and only one of them (as mentioned above) has broken now after a longer time, of the 2Wds equal both…
Then I have several other manufacturers, but all still work (although some of them are already from 2006!) (Hitachi, exelstor, maxtor)
Therefore, I now consider buying a new record (I'm just not sure which brand I should take because wd is always recommended so… So far, however, these are me wiegesagt always scratched…)
PS: the 2 Seagate in my laptop, sometimes makes so every 4 seconds a click sound, but so far works without problems… Is this possibly synonymous sign that this soon "die (although the SMART values are OK)?
Of the many Western Digital hard drives that I have sold and installed in 25 years, were only less than 1% failure. At Seagate nearly 50%, every second plate has died no matter how. The old IBM hard drives were even better than the WD of which I still have one today that screams like a circular saw and is noisy but still has no bad sectors. I do not block Toshiba any more because they have annoyed me the most in the 25 years. I had to agree several times with the court and once had to be passed a judgment. So not a good start for a trusting cooperation. We do not need to write anything about Excelstore records.
I still own a hard drive with 1.6 GB of WD (from the year 2000) which works just as well some younger models with 80GB capacity.
So it's the opposite of what you're trying to explain. WD has been active in the hard disk business for many years and has a good and great know how to do so. It has also bought up a few lines of other manufacturers and thus expanded its productions. Since WD is in the business for quite a long time, its name recognition is also very high. Today if you write by Connor / Conner hardly anyone who can still remember the hard disk manufacturer. Just like IBM. The division has split up to a few large manufacturers.
Thereof:
WD so Western Digital
Samsung
Toshiba
Seagate
The most popular.

Seagate, she is walking or she is not leaving. You do not need more than that to write.
At the latest when it fails you will see that you have reached the end of your life.
My WD plates run for years without problems. Had so far not a single failure.
Even an IDE plate from WD, built in 1994, 850 mb, still works.
Although I prefer disks with smaller capacities, 500 GigaByte - 1 TerraByte, with a rotation speed of 5400.
Seagate is aware of this high failure rate…
There are better and worse for both manufacturers.- There's indeed the statement MTB, as must take the high value. The others with little or no indication are the cheaply produced ones.
Take a look. Also WD has a cheap rail.
