Is there anything against the fact that an 8 year old laptop boots from a 32GB drive?

It's about an IBM Thinkpad 2373-T40. He can boot from usb sticks. I just do not know if it's possible to boot from a usb stick.

Does anyone here know whether the size of the stick could possibly be a problem here?
