If the laptop is very old or very poorly performing (or both), it may well be that it is already overwhelmed with a normal browser. Or something about it is broken.

I don't think they meant exploding literally. That should mean something like the laptop is already completely overwhelmed with such simple tasks and hangs up / has extremely long loading times. So at least I hope so.
