My laptop is infected with viruses - how can I download teamviewer?

Apparently my laptop is infected with viruses, because every time I want to open the browser (firefox) to get into the internet, dozens of other programs, all of which are classified as dangerous by my antivirus program (Comodo), are using Firefox log in my PC. It's a veritable attack of unknown programs, all ending in XY.exe.

Therefore, I wanted to download teamviewer, so that a friend can take a look at it (he lives far away) and can fix it. But now I can't open Firefox, the message "Firefox is already running, but it does not respond, the open Firefox process has to be closed to open a new window"

If I close it and open Firefox again, the same message will be displayed constantly. That's why I can't download teamviewer because I can't open a tab in Firefox.

Who knows how to open Firefox and download teamviewer?

Viruses are usually not so noticeable, but you may have caught some bloatware, through advertising or the like.

You can use the good old Edge Browser (Internet Explorer) and download TeamViewer.

My suggestion would be to uninstall Firefox and set it up completely without add-ons. This should solve most problems.

Many Thanks!

I have a guess where this could come from: 2 days ago I downloaded an update from Adobe Reader for PDF files and thought nothing of it (Adobe Reader has been installed on my laptop for years).

Maybe that was a fake and this update was somehow infected… Could that be?

Now comes the message on my laptop "XY.exe is unknown and tries to access the protected COM interface". I try to uninstall Firefox as fast as possible and get into the Internet via Internet Explorer

Without any prior knowledge, you can back up your data to an external disk and then flatten the system.
This may make more work at first glance, but avoids any rework if there are more problems than just the one problem.

Maybe that's the best, because I just tried it via Internet Explorer and it's just as infected and I can't get into the net with it either. Can't open a tab and if it is, teamviewer can't be downloaded. The Internet Explorer is also attacked by zig XY.exe files and programs like the browser.

I do not want to advertise or lecture here, but I've had Avira Antivir pro for 15 years, costing 20, - € a year, I do not even know what viruses are.

The end where you save should be covered.

Well, I did not even know it existed - my PC skills are not the best anyway, I do not have more than basic knowledge.

But thanks for the tip!

Exactly teamviewer is a very good idea. Then while you are eating and you forgot to turn off TeamViewer, the person can secretly destroy even more of your operating system through TeamViewer while you are not there. Because even on the Internet exisiteren evil people, the first time as a brave person camouflage and later can end evil. This is especially at the foreign user you do not long knows a high risk. Therefore, she should make sure that they can understand this person well with each other, and best watch for yourself what makes the person in calculator. I would rather urgently make an important backup on an external hard drive or USB stick, and as soon as your computer is running on TeamViewer and this person can control your computer, then you should stake out all external storage devices (where your important data is on it), because of Person can be evil and secretly delete your important data. If you are unsure, I would rather look on the internet to see what you can do and try for yourself. Because the external user can control your computer via TeamViewer is dangerous because you never know how it really is. Even if he behaves well, it does not mean that he is really good. So think about it. If you trust this person and you know them in realife, then you can do it. But I warned you!

I'm always happy if I can help. Avira Antivir is even recommended by banks if you have online banking.

Thanks for your warning! In this case, it's my own brother:-) I trust that. Nevertheless, you are right, of course.
