What does that actually mean with PCs and laptops?

I sometimes read "DDR4" or something like that. What does that mean exactly and how much DDR (if you can write that) should you have on the laptop for Windows 10?

Ov

DDR refers to the speed of the memory, not the size.

Is not so important now for home use.

Ju

So ddr4 is the new generation if you can say that of RAM (RAM) you should definitely have at least 4GB RAM but I recommend at least 8

Ba

DDR4 is the generation of RAM

To run Windows 10 you need at least 2GB… So that it is reasonably usable you need 4GB.

8GB would definitely be recommended.

Je

DDR translates as "double data rate". This describes the way the memory works.

This method is constantly being improved, which is why there are DDR, DDR 2, DDR 3 and DDR 4 for PCs. Your motherboard will determine which one you need, because a mainboard can usually only use one type of motherboard. DDR 3 memory does not fit into the slots for DDR 4 memory and vice versa.

It should be 8 GB. 16 GB or more is optimal. Ideally in the form of two identical 4 GB or 8 GB memory bars.

Be

I always thought it was the 4th generation of the GDR standard.

Bi

DDR4 is short for DDR4-SDRAM and means double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory in the 4th generation or variant. There were already DDR, DDR2, DDR3 and even DDR5

DDR virtually doubles the data transfer of an SDRAM module

For Windows 10 it is recommended to run at least 8 GB.

Ov

Yes it is. And that also allows the highest clock rates.

Ge

Few people need 16GB or more.

Je

If you want to play demanding games in high resolutions, 16 GB are interesting. You can never have too much RAM anyway.

As I said, 8 GB is enough for Win10.

Be

I found that quickly.
