What do OBD testers look for?

I'm a motor vehicle apprentice and would now like to buy an OBD tester for at home.

In my training company, unfortunately, nobody knows more about it except for the Bosch ESI Tronic (much too expensive for hobby companies).

I want to spend between 500 euro to about 1000 euro depending on that for a tester. Can also be 1500 euro if the price increase is worthwhile.

It should work for all (many) manufacturers.

What should you watch out for with these OBD testers? What is more recommendable a software for the laptop or a device with display / touchpad?

What additional functions are there from price class to price class?

Unfortunately I can only find a few tests with good information on the Internet…

Hopefully someone can help with this.

Er

Why so much?

what do you want to do with it?

I bought an adapter that connects to the smartphone via Wi-Fi.

Costs 30 euro and reads a lot

You need an app for but there are many

There are Autel testers that are said to be really good value for money.

Otherwise, brand-specific are always recommended if you work a lot on a brand.

In my private life I have a lot to do with Opel so I took the money in my hand and bought an OP Com.

I would have thought of the following devices:

Autel MaxisDAS DS808

Or

Launch CRP MOT II

both for about 800-900 euro

What do you all mean?
