I'm a trainee (motor vehicle) and would like to learn more privately. Practice / screw / help with family and friends. I also want to buy cars, among other things, or help my closest buyers. I already have some basic knowledge, but I would like to expand my knowledge, but some things are not immediately visible or I would like to be able to narrow them down better. For this I would like to buy a diagnostic device but I have no plan where, how and what. Can you recommend a device or software for my laptop? What is better such devices with small screens and buttons or these programs for laptops or is that not decisive?
I know it from our workshop so that we have a program on the laptop and an OBD connector.
If possible, the diagnostic device should read ALL cars, be able to delete the error memory and possibly program. Reading and deleting it would be good to start with if it is too much to program.
I have already seen some screwdrivers that they also have hacked programs. They work, too, but I would rather buy something safe and honest. What can you recommend me? What is good and what is not? Please clarify me, I'm open to everything and if I should have written something wrong, then it says it too.
It should be able to do as much as possible and have an upgrade function to upgrade with the years but not directly cost thousands of euro. I know I have many requirements but with my trainee salary 1000 euro or more would not be feasible.
An OBD-2 dignosis device is available for around 100 euro.
OBD-2 applies to vehicles from around 2005.
Most cars also have the standardized 16-pin slot. As far as I know, Mercedes-Benz is an exception. The slot is shaped differently and not in the driver's cab, but in the engine compartment.
Thank you for your help first. I'm aware of OBD2 and I need such a device / program. But I would like to be able to read cars from 99 to 15/16/17 best in 2019. If it's up to e.g. 2012 is and is expandable later, it is also ok. But it is about finding such a device or program. Which would you recommend me and are the devices for reading better or the programs for the PC / laptop?
I think you have bad cards to find such diagnostic software. Read out different vehicle manufacturers and different control units, and then still cheap. That does not work. Either you specialize in a vehicle manufacturer, e.g. The VAG group, there are VCDS or you take these small devices, because you can only read exhaust-relevant data from different manufacturers. But such an all-round device or all-round software could not be found inexpensively. Maybe looked at AUTEL.
It sounds like you want to work black on the side. When that comes out you fly and if you do something wrong you end up in jail.
Why work black? I just want to solve my own and the problems of my friends and acquaintances that are close to me. All without taking any money. I do not know how you come up with something like that but for me it is normal in my environment that you help each other. Or did I say somewhere that I want to do something with friends or friends? Please just write an answer to my question and save your "nice hints". I think everyone is aware that illegal work is prohibited. If I planned to do that, I could also look for illegal software and not ask for legal reasons here just in passing. Not meant badly, but I would like to prevent further unnecessary comments from others.
What could you generally recommend it to me as an all-rounder and what would be possible from the expensive programs? I just looked at autel and saw the maxicom, how is that, do you know about it?
