Charging the laptop battery?

The charging process is constantly interrupted for several seconds and resumed. What can this be?

Shaky connection, charging cable defective.

Broken charging socket or broken battery.

In the latter case I would be careful…

Charging cable ok, no loose connection.

Either the charger or the battery has an error. Can you take the battery out and operate the laptop only with a charger?
