I have a laptop with an Atom x5-Z8350, 4GB RAM and 32GB eMMC storage and now I would like to know what the best operating system would be for it.
Windows 10 32bit
I would try a lean Linux distribution on it.
Unfortunately, with Windows 10 I had driver problems
Okay which one would you recommend?
Have a look here:

from entry # 10 onwards, specific suggestions are made for Linux distributions for books / tablets with Intel Atom x5-z8350.
I can recommend installing the free Cloudready operating system on it. This is an adapted Chromium OS that can be installed on any device: https://www.neverware.com/freedownload
You need the USB maker and an empty formatted USB stick with at least 8GB. The installation wizard is self-explanatory. Cloudready is multilingual. After installation, it occupies approx. 12GB on the eMMC memory.
Cloudready goes off like a rocket on this device. The browser starts without delay. In the settings in the Plugins section you can install codecs with just one click. Widevine is also installed so that DRM content can also be played back.
P.S. Cloudready was taken over by Google. Google wants to develop a full-fledged Chrome OS with Google Play Store that can be installed on any device.
