Which Phoenix BIOS version is right for my Samsung notebook?

I'm looking for my Samsung R730 a current BIOS from Phoenix Technologies. Unfortunately I find for my model NP-R730-JS01DE on the Samsung download page only the BIOS version 07JD. For a similar model, I think it is a later model, namely the NP-R730-JB04DE there's the BIOS 08JV. Can I also flash this on my model? I've read that Samsung only puts old drivers for notebooks to download, and does not update them at all. Could that also apply to the BIOS? Because I've had to update a lot of drivers because Samsung's are too old. Among other things, the chipset firmware.

How can I check if the BIOS version 08JV fits on my notebook?

Before you flash anything and make your computer unusable, what do you expect from a bios update?

Po

Better performance of the hardware z. B of my SSD

En

Why do you want to update the BIOS at all what do you expect from it?

If you want to scrap your laptop you can do that if the version is not explicitly stated for your model, the risk is extremely high

En

Well there helps you a bios update nothing

Po

Can't I restore the old BIOS after I've flashed the new one and the laptop does not boot up?

En

Assuming the new Bios is running with your built-in Mainbaoard but which is not the case for different serial numbers and then the laptop does nothing at all without Bios then he does not even know that he is a laptop then you can use it as a paperweight.

Are BIOS updates not also for updating the microcodes of a CPU in order to exclude security risks?

En

Do you think such a (old) CPU is there a microcode update? I do not think so. In addition, the larger gaps ala Specter / Meltdown in WIndows 10 are already gepatched or the Micocode installed and in various Linux distributions.

The BIOS version 08JV is already old, comes from 2011.

En

The laptop is also from 2011 what do you expect? That bring the manufacturer for 10-year-old hardware updates? Something like that does not itch at all are not interested in maximum profit not to keep old devices alive otherwise no one would buy something new.
