I bought myself a SIP telephone for the office (the second already). This is called Fanvil X4. Handset, LAN cable and power adapter connected - And nothing happens. The thing does not work. Now I would say the part is broken. Before that, I had one from Yeahlink. That did not work either.
Just stay out. Nothing flashes, display off - nothing.
Now I'm also lending for that matter. Does somebody has any idea? At the socket and the LAN jack hangs usually my laptop - So it works?
As a rule, here helps a manual, instructions or contact with the manufacturer.
With the few details my crystal ball does not say much.
Vlt. Own power supply? Configuration required? Or or?
Everything is connected correctly according to the English instructions from the net. Should not at least tackle the good piece? Internet is probably passed through. Because printing on the network printer works despite "diversion" through the phone.
Can it be that the device still has something like a piece of plastic between the power supply, which you still have to pull out after shopping, so that the contacts can close the circuit?
Otherwise, I just read through the manual (you could even at: https://www.internetvoipphone.co.uk/product_data/fanvil-x4-user-manual.pdf)
On the one hand you can feed the device via PoE on the other hand with power supply.
Is it important if you just plug in the network cable? But have to see that you get the correct slot, many SIP have 2 network sockets, an input and an output that could be used as a switch (eg router → SIP → PC). If you try this with the PoE, but then you have to make sure that the other end of the network cable at the router or switch is also plugged into a PoE port.
I had already thought - Unfortunately, nothing. According to the instructions, the device is connected correctly.
Mmmh so if it does not even start, then look again for hidden buttons / switch and test at another outlet. At best stop to return warranty.
OK. That sounds good. Are the PoE ports marked? On the outputs of the router is nothing appropriate.
If you are looking for a different model:
Yealink SIP-T48S
or
innovaphone IP111 or IP112
The innovaphone is little cheaper and we use this on business. Works great.
The strange thing is that it is already the second phone, which simply stays off?
Well, such stupid coincidences happen. If it does not start or starts to initialize as soon as it's plugged in… I would not have to worry about that for much longer.
Yes maybe you are right - I just noticed that the device wants 5V and supplies the power supply 12V. I order again a 5V power supply. Maybe that's the mistake. Otherwise I'll send it back
Was it the included power supply?
Ne - The factory supply no more. Was the same with the Yealink
Oh then it is very likely even the power supply (except you have not already tried the LAN cable on the one hand on the router to connect to the PoE port and the other hand, the phone in the right jack), you should ALWAYS only use accessories of the respective manufacturer. Could otherwise be that your own power supply scrap the phone and then the warranty is eliminated.
But, at 7V difference, not too much should happen.
What kind of router do you have? Or if ne switch, what a?
Oh, if your router has PoE is the critical question here. Because with us everything runs over switches with PoE function. And with a commercial router, I've rarely seen PoE. Would also be labeled.
On the switch, for example
Think that you probably have to wait for your A new AC adapter or B buy a small PoE switch.
e.g. : https://www.brack.ch/tp-link-5-port-58-w-poe-budget-poe-switch-tl-sf1005p-873478?query=PoE%20switch
In the future, you might need it anyway, if you want to get into the net with other devices via LAN.
Unfortunately, I know too little. We're a very small company. The router is from the telecom. We also have a bigger switch here. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. Which cable goes where - Who knows! The disappear in cable channels, appear at the electricity box again (there's still some socket) and then at some point at the output sockets. I will probably have to count on the power supply…
Then please say please the switch model, maybe you actually have a PoE function.
Level One GSW2457 is on it
Unfortunately I do not have a PoE function.

But since this is used for business, I would advise to buy a small PoE Switch, then you have already made provision for the future, because always how more devices are running via PoE.
eg as mentioned above:

;-) Thank you - Should be cleared up anyway here - I discuss this with my partners!
All right
