Drakensang does not start anymore?

Years ago I bought the PC game Drakensang and then played a bit. On my own laptop (Windows 8) it never worked, there was always only the music to hear, but no picture to see. That's why I took the old computer (Windows Vista) because it worked fine. But now, after many loyal years, it is finally junk. So I picked out the dusty game again, installed it well on my laptop and waited to see if anything was going to happen. And nothing. Nothing. This time also no music, the mouse pointer remains normal. The laptop growls neatly for about 1 minute as if it were starting the game, then the dialog box "Application starts" appears, and then nothing happens. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, I'm a little bit stuck…

This works as far as I know only in windowed mode.

You have to attach a "-windowed" to the link.

Right click on the shortcut on the desktop and choose "Properties".

Under "Destination" is the path to the EXE file. Behind it you write then with blanks and without quotation marks a "-windowed"

It looks like this:

Goal: "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Drakensang \ Drakensang.exe" -windowed

Bu

Thank you first. With this windowed I have already read several times, but when I call the properties that I find nothing where "goal" is… Any hint?

Bi

Yes… Just click on the right link.

Bu

And if there's no link on the desktop? Incidentally, I've wondered about it, otherwise it will always be installed automatically, or I can choose that I would like to have installed there

Bi

And how do you start the game?

If necessary, you create the link itself.

Just go to the program folder and right click on Drakensang.exe and create a shortcut. Then copy to the desktop and change accordingly.

Bu

About the C drive because the link is missing. But now I have created one, there come to the "goal" and can edit it in theory. "E: \ Data \! Base \ drakensang.exe" -windowed → I enter that, but then there's an error message. Is the windowed in the wrong place?

Bi

Spaces!

"E: \ Data \! Base \ drakensang.exe" -windowed

Bu

Okay, that would be clear - thanks. Some mistakes are somehow obvious. But the game does not open that way either - as it did not before. It does not do anything…

Bi

Then run in compatibility mode.

Right click Shortcut - Properties - Compatibility tab.

Take Windows XP or Windows 7.

If it still does not work → Reinstall

Still not working → put on a VM or find yourself with it. On GOG there's the game I think nciht.
