Wanted a student laptop?

I'm a high school graduate since this summer and now need a decent laptop. In addition, I have to say that I'm technically maximum unskilled what should not mean that I want a laptop that has only "the bare minimum"! So I definitely need a writing program (Microsoft Word?!) and Power Point to make a presentation. My budget of 600 euro must not be exceeded. I want to be able to use it for a long time, even in my later studies. If jmd had ideas for a suitable laptop for me and what is a McBook and notebook? 🤷 I would be pleased about suggestions and / or good Internet sites for comparison

Have the same laptop (only with a different processor and Linux). For the price, this is a good laptop with Asus quality. The battery life is sufficient. In general, a convertible is very practical for studying, because you can write better on a touch screen - especially if you study something, where there are many formulas. Compared to a tablet, it has the advantage that normal computer programs can be easily executed, which are not available for mobile devices, but which are required for studying.

"MacBook" is just the brand name for laptops / notebooks from Apple. Technically, these are normal laptops. While most normal laptops run Windows as the operating system, MacBooks have their own Apple operating system, MacOS. Some people prefer MacOS because they find it easier to use and sometimes a little more stable, on the other hand, many programs known by Windows do not run on MacOS and you have to find an alternative, if there's one. Also, MacOS has fewer settings than Windows, which makes MacOS more inflexible, in addition to unavailable programs.

In general, MacBooks are brutally overpriced, they cost well and happy times 1000 euro + more than similar computers, without that they have just too big advantages. That's why I personally advise against MacBooks.

By default, most laptops come without Office programs (generic term for writing, spreadsheets and presentation programs). You must purchase these separately. Often a trial version of Microsoft Office (ie the "original" Office with Word, PowerPoint and co.) Is installed, which you can test for 30 days. Then you need to buy a license to continue using it.

There are also free office programs, e.g. LibreOffice, which are similar to Microsoft Office, but not identical. You can also install these on the laptop at any time.

You could take a look at this model, which is currently on offer and in my opinion quite well equipped:
