The following problem: I recently downloaded Discord on my laptop running Windows 7. But now it happens that when I'm in a voice channel and want to play a YouTube video in my browser, for example, I hear the channel through my headphones and the browser through the built-in loudspeakers of the laptop. It would be nice if someone could help me.
You can set your default device in the system settings under audio devices, then the browser sound will be played over it.
Since there's no longer any support for Windows 7, there's no longer any help.
I can recommend installing a Linux distro on this laptop. For example Linux Mint Xfce. This only requires 1/3 of the system resources that Windows 7 would otherwise need. Discord is also available for Linux.
Here is the download from the Linux Mint Xfce ISO: http://mirrors.evowise.com/linuxmint/stable/20.1/linuxmint-20.1-xfce-64bit.iso
Then write the ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/de/ on an empty formatted stick and then boot it. Just follow the instructions of the wizard. First you choose the language. I recommend doing a full installation. The third-party software option should also be selected. In the installation options, select "Erase hard drive and install Linux Mint". The latest Firefox, Libreoffice, multimedia components and tools are also installed at the same time.
This is what the desktop looks like:
As you can see, the start menu is divided into categories. That makes the whole thing clearer. The taskbar with clock, volume, network / WLAN also looks familiar. If you plug in an external hard drive, for example, an icon appears on the desktop and you can then access it.
Programs are installed via application management. Most of it can be found there. In some cases you have to install programs outside of the package management. Such programs are available for Linux Mint as DEB files. The installation is done simply by double-clicking.
Here is the download from Discord: https://discord.com/ You need the DEB package. Simply install with a double click. There's no problem with unwanted audio output there.
Skype is also available for Linux: https://go.skype.com/...nux-64.deb
Just like Microsoft Teams: https://www.microsoft.com/...loadregion
A central update manager always keeps the system and the installed programs up-to-date. If new versions appear, a message appears at the bottom right next to the clock and you can then update. This can also be automated so that it runs in the background. If a restart is requested, a message with a reboot button will also appear.
Linux Mint goes off like a rocket. Windows 7, on the other hand, is a lame duck.
I don't understand what the whole thing for
Because at some point new Discord versions no longer run under Windows 7 and older ones are no longer supported.
Thanks for the long comment.
I will definitely remember Linux Mint Xfce ISO.
Incidentally, I got the problem solved myself. I changed the output device from "Default" to "Headphones" on Discord
