Sound creaks randomly at Windows 10 every now and then?

IT specialists asked: Recently the audio output on my laptop with Windows 10 (Dell Inspirion 17 5000 Series) has been creaking while listening to music, in an online meeting, when recording music through a separately connected interface and in general everything that creates sounds.

The creaking occurs randomly every now and then for a fraction of a second.

It is NOT due to different external output devices, the creaking is the case with all test objects available to me (different boxes and headphones) and, as already mentioned, even occurs when recording music through an interface - this is particularly problematic because it is not Condition for clean home recording is.

Some programs even crash due to the "audio creak" and have to be restarted.

The previously used driver REALTEK AUDIO was always up to date, I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it by restarting my PC. Bring nothing. Neither does the "High Definition Audio Device" driver, which is used instead, bring anything.

Likewise, no audio enhancements are active. I've already gone through all the forums and MS guides and it just didn't help.

Do you know why this is and what I should do at best?

Best wishes

What do you mean by?

through a separately connected interface?

Which type / manufacturer?

If you go to audio directly on the notebook, is everything ok?

Maybe it's a driver problem, try the penultimate driver.

Or it would be a system sound. Turn it off once. You get there with various right and left clicks on the sound symbol.

Your next research facility is the Windows Logs. If it is a driver problem you will probably find the error logged with a warning triangle. Ask Cortana about the "Event Viewer".

Focusrite Scarlett. But it is not because of the interface, because I got it again after it was the same with the old one (Line 6 UX II). What do you mean when I "go to audio directly from the notebook"?

How do I try the penultimate driver or how do I do it?

I will then turn off system sounds and also ask about the event display.

Ca

It is the socket on the laptop.

Can be cleaned carefully with toothbrush and alcohol. Alcohol on the brush. Not in the device.

The penultimate driver is typically offered on the respective homepages. Because it so often happens that the "newest" software is worse for some than the previous one.
