Linux distribution from live CD (DVD) - how to install?

I want to install the Linux distribution PCLinuxOS on my laptop with Win7 and work with it in the future. Surfing. I want to keep Win7 for certain programs.

I burned the corresponding iso file as a live file onto a DVD to test it.

How do I go about starting it without installing it on the hard drive?

ho

Simply load the data medium at the start of the program and possibly specify the DVD drive as the first boot option. The live CD starts automatically and loads Linux. When installing you can choose whether you want to install Linux next to Windows, then the boot manager Grub is installed and you can choose the operating system every time you restart. But that also has its disadvantages.

A live CD or DVD is normally not intended for installation. There are distributions where you can do that as an additional function.

Live: Systems are only booted.

Select in the BIOS CD, switch on the PC again with the CD inserted.
