If necessary, is there a return if I install Linux on my laptop?

I wondered if it would not be worthwhile installing Linux on my laptop instead of Windows 10. I bought it almost a year ago with preinstalled Windows 10.

However, I almost only need it for the university and I think it makes sense to install Linux, just because I also want to acquire Linux knowledge.

My question is now, if I install Linux on the laptop, is there somehow a way back to Windows, without having to buy new Windows licenses?

Or. Could there be any warranty issues since I bought the laptop with Windows 10?

I also got used to it a bit by installing Linux as a VM, but that's different.

That depends mainly on what you want to do with the computer and if there's a software alternative to the programs you use for it.

For this you could also use a live version (from USB, CD or DVD) or set up a virtualization software (VirtualBox, VMWare, VirtualPC ect.) Or a dual-boot environment.

For the solutions I mentioned so far, there are only small hurdles to remove the GNU / Linux system again.
In a "correct" installation with replacement of the existing system (Windows 10), this is logically not possible without an installation media including registration key / number

could there be any warranty issues since i bought the laptop with Windows 10?

Definitely no, because the hardware is not opened or changed!

I also got used to it a bit by installing Linux as a VM, but that's different.

Of course, that's different, so a dual-boot, where you can choose between the installed operating systems, at computer startup, is the best solution.

Before you dare to a Linux installation, I would advise you for Windows a system mirroring on an external disk.

You have a complete Windows image that you can always play back to the laptop.

If you install Linux, and something goes wrong during installation, e.g. Windows will not start, as the warranty will not be so readily available, i. That means the shop will charge you for the repair.

With a system image of Windows you can restore your system at any time. Do not buy a Windows version, the necessary drivers are all included.

If you do not like a Gnu / Linux operating system, you can reinstall Windows10. Assuming you have a Microsoft account and your activated Windows 10 is connected to your Microsoft account.

Your Windows activation is noticed there and with a new installation you only have to log in with your Microsoft account. Entering a license key is not necessary.

By the way, you can still install Windows 10 with a valid Windows7 license key.

First, the device warranty does not generally apply to damaged Windows installations or installations of other operating systems.

Second, the store will in any case charge for a reinstallation of the operating system. Unless they make it from customer friendliness to goodwill. Then it will be free.

I used to call my computer store years ago, they explained that to me as well.
