I try to record the noise of my neighbors on my laptop equipped with Windows 10. How can I do it?
Connect the microphone to the pink socket
Start Audacity
Select microphone as recording source
Press record
But do not expect miracles. A microphone is not an ear and you probably do not hear it on the recording.
In addition, something is not an indication of the actual volume, because you can change the volume later digitally.
You definitely need a good microphone. Your cellphone is probably better suited for this.
Let's put it this way: it will not work with a simple PC headset. This is because a PC headset usually has a built-in dynamic microphone that is designed to record sounds within a radius of one meter, as it is meant to record only voice, and is usually relatively close at the source, that is carried on the mouth. To record the loud noises of your neighbors you need a condenser microphone, as these are intended for the recording of entire rooms and also have a greater sensitivity. But since cheap to come to something good and useful, especially because you still need a microphone amplifier in the best case, is difficult. I e.g. Use sowas only with a mixer with built-in microphone amplifier and then go to the computer.
The cheapest thing I can think of would be a zoom H1n, which can record directly to SD card (in this case you can save the calculator and microphone amplifier). So you would be mobile, could go where you hear the noise s.besten and could record this crystal clear. But since the Zoom H1n also beats at 87 euro, this is probably too expensive for this probably unique recording purpose.
That's why the others are right here, so if you can record it on your phone, it's probably more a good idea to go this route. These images are not forgery-proof anyway, because you can still change the volume digitally or analogously.
