Laptop on windowsill despite cooler temperatures?

Hello to all hardware professionals,

this question comes from a HardwareDAU, so it is meant seriously despite all the "stupidity" of the questioner.
Some time ago I was given a laptop, actually a "carrot", which I wanted to use when I felt like playing my old computer games (for Windows 98 and XP). The device is also not connected to the Internet.

Since I write a lot and like to write by hand, I came up with the funnel, for example for role-playing systems that I have as PDF on the computer, to put the laptop on the windowsill, to zoom the font to a larger font size and then to work out the parts. That would have the advantage for me that I have space on my desk (it would only be one thing that I list now. I have a lot more that I could / would want to implement in this way).

Where I feel a bit jittery is the fact that the computer then stands close to the window for a few hours, and although both the blinds are down and the heating is (meanwhile) turned up, the Lappi stands close to the (closed ) Window and therefore close to a source of cold.

Can he still stand on the windowsill 24/7 or would that be less than ideal? I had also considered putting the computer on the desk when I'm not working at the desk by hand in order to get it away from the cold, but I have concerns that because of the constant up and down the cable of the power supply is affected (that's why I rarely wanted to put it on the desk and leave it mostly on the windowsill (although I would have to take it off the windowsill for ventilation anyway).

My stupid questions: is it okay if Lappi stands on the windowsill for a while? And how likely is it that placing it on a window sill and then back on a desk will damage / break the cable?

Thank you in advance for the answers

P.S. The computer is connected to the power grid 24/7

Cold is usually not the problem, but heat. I would rather not do that in summer. Otherwise the temperature fluctuations could damage the shelf life a bit, but otherwise…

Cold is really only a problem for batteries. But assume that it is warmer outside the window than in the refrigerator. With cell phones, I notice that some batteries lose a lot of juice very quickly at + 5 ° -10 °, others only when it is really frosty.

Well, I had researched the net, but so far only found articles about cold and lappis that you take outside or even leave in the car when the temperature is below zero.
I didn't know about the cell phone batteries.

OK. Although summer is hardly an issue for me - even when it's blazingly hot outside, it's cool for me, which is also due to the fact that my landlord built a carport in front of my window and there's also a balcony over it - himself when the temperature outside is higher - I often have to walk around the apartment wearing a sweater. Only in July / August does it get so warm in here that the sweat runs in rivers.
