Hi! I have a laptop with an SSD with 256 GB storage. Now I want to download a game that has about 95 GB. Unfortunately I don't have enough memory for this. I thought I could buy an SD card and install the game on it and then play, because it is very small and you don't have to take a lot with you if you take the laptop with you.
Does this make loading times longer or do you notice a difference in game performance?
A normal SD card is too slow in the long run xD you would have to buy one from SanDisk or something like that and then you have to expect that an SD card can lose its read / write speed very quickly.
No you notice no difference, works as always in my experience ^^
I would not take an SD card in your place.
It's too slow (often, unless you have a very good one) and the biggest problem:
It is not built for the many reads and writes.
Unfortunately, you have to assume that some memory cells will no longer function correctly after some time and the data would be lost.
The Crucial MX500 SSDs are quite cheap and extremely reliable.
OK thanks! Is it the same with a USB stick?
Ok thanks for your answer but is it the same with a USB stick?
It all depends on how high quality the USB stick is. Most of the time, these are more expensive than an SSD or, if necessary, an HDD.
With the lifespan yes, but the USB sticks are usually faster if you spend money on them. You would have to make a comparison. Ask https://www.google.de/....google.de.
Ok I'll see
OK thank you.
No problem, if you have further questions just let me know. (I'm IT)
