I'm in the 9th grade of a grammar school and I'm going to high school in the summer. I can see in the older students that they have laptops or in YouTube videos always students with laptops and wonder if I'll need them so much that I will I should get one too… Especially now with online classes. At the moment I sometimes use my father's for a few conferences, no more and no less.
If you don't need your own computer for your free time, then you don't need one for school either. At university these days you can hardly get along without your own, but you won't need your own at school.
No, you can do without it. And if not, you can always get one.
Make a list and think if you had one what you would do with it
and then see if the purchase is worthwhile for you
I would recommend that you get one. In high school you often have to do things for school on the laptop, e.g. Write tests, research information, learn online…
If I were you, I wouldn't buy one because I think I need one. Just see if you need one or not next year?!
I didn't necessarily need one in 10th grade. Only when I was studying for my final paper. At that time, however, the libraries were also open.
